Welcome to the PR Writing Blog!

Everyone, I hope you enjoyed your session last night on social media, and that the IT systems worked for you. Are you enjoying the course?

You should be able to comment on this blog; I have enabled users with gmail accounts to access the blog, and I have also added all your email addresses to this blog, to make sure. Let's see how we go.

Have a try at setting up a blog too - it's fun, and pretty easy.

  3. TOTAL NEW FOR ME – “BLOG & TWITTER “

Blog and Twitter for everyone are not a new term nowadays! But for me absolutely - Yes! I wouldn’t take initiative to see anyone’s messages or opinions on blog or twitter even it posts by my friends and or by those my favourite celebrities. Really to open blog & twitter account is only just for PR Writing’s lecture!

But need not to say, blog and twitter have been a common platform and widely used for everyone – like celebrities, our HKSAR Chief Executive Donald Tsang and you and me. The “blogsphere” is very opened, everyone is very enjoy to share their daily life, especially the tiny things, what they seen and what they ate etc. Of course, some of them is hot topic happened in our society, sharing their angry, their joy and their hate! Since blog and twitter have no bound, everyone can post and share their thoughts, even can criticize the person openly. Seems it has no right or wrong by sharing the thoughts, it becomes a very dangerous communication tools if criticize someone or government on blog especially in a closed society like China.

I am not opposite to use the social media for communication, and for sure that it is one the quickest, handiest, immediate with no boundless communication tools!

  5. Hi Barbara and Everyone,

Long time no see! Barbara, How are you lately?
To me, I was used to contact with my friends and family by using blog, msn, and email when I was studying; however, I have never use blogspot and twitter still this course. It makes me tired but interested. Some people may agree with me that there are not everyone can spend times on blog when one is working in Hong Kong. The blog and twitter, however, are amazing platforms for people to share their lives and express their emotions.Indeed, this is also a good place for people to spread out their messages and get the feedbacks.
Most young people are used to stick with different blogs and forums lately, some may be addicted to live with the internet. Some young people in Hong Kong had some interesting activities by calling people out on the internet. A group member may calls people out to meet in a 24-hours store on a chosen date for 10 seconds on the internet. Those people who can get the messages from the blogs or forums, they really show up in the store at the particular time, but they actually do not know each other except they have been on the same platform.
Blogs, Forums, Twitter and other platforms are good channels for spreading out messages to the publics because this is the fastest way to reach people and this is a place for people to spend time on in 24-hours. Many companies, therefore, buy the spaces on some websites for advertisments.
I have been worked in a global e-banking department, I have found that more than 100 people online and apply the bank service in the mid-night.
Some people may think that using the internet to get and spread the messages in good for pur planet in terms of reducing the paper use. Other may think that is the best way to relax but can know all things happening around the world. No matter what reason the people use the blogs or twitter, this is the trend in the universe.

  6. Blogosphere is the today’s writing a diary to share with everybody as to receive comments, to exchange ideas, to convey meaning and feelings interactively.

Personally I won’t write blogs because don’t see myself as a writer with an interesting life to write about. Neither am I a regular blog reader because don’t have the patience and the time as my job requires me to write on a regular basis already!

Sometimes it’s enjoyable, yet there are frustrating moments especially when you can’t find the words to put them down or to reciprocate what the writing is about.
Not everybody’s radar is sharp daily!

    Blogs would be useful for:
    1. organizations for raising profile and awareness
    2. internal communication
    3. public figures to touch-base with friends and fans
    4. educational purposes with or without academic discipline.

Many have become much more efficient and practical because we would only want to read quickly: the headline, a part of the paragraph before deciding to carry on reading.

To keep somebody interested in your reading, start off with a conclusion, write concisely, and avoid the clutter! Visual use of pictures, fonts, (sub) headings, bolding, (bulleted) form etc. is also highly recommended. Good night and good luck!
